Established in the fall of 1982 in Boston, Massachusetts, Yang’s Martial Arts Association opened its first martial arts school.  Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming’s willingness to teach openly gradually led to the creation of dozens of YMAA schools around the world in many countries. In 1984, Dr. Yang founded the YMAA Publication Center, now located in New Hampshire, a pioneering publisher of Tai Chi, Qigong, martial arts, and health books and videos with worldwide distribution.

At age 15, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming began his Kung Fu training in Taiwan under Master Cheng, Gin-Gsao.  Under his training he became an expert in White Crane Style of Chinese martial arts.  During this time-period, he also studied Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan under Master Kao Tao.  At age 18, Dr. Yang entered Tamkang University in Taipei to study physics where he also trained and taught Shaolin Long Fist Kung Fu with Master Li, Mao-Ching.  In 1974, he moved to the United States and graduated from Purdue University earning a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. This background in science combined with his martial arts training was a valuable asset in teaching and writing over 40 books and 60 videos.

Today, Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming continues to teach, write, and inspire students worldwide from his new home at Yang Family Heights, in McKinleyville, California.
